Life's Dream

If we are in the world and yet not of it, then essentially, life is just a dream. For in our dreams, we sense that we belong but also, that we are in a constant state of departure. The focus in the “dream” world is to obtain as much information as possible. At the same time, we must use that information to discover our purpose within this world. Our unlimited abilities and undiscovered potential, give us the tools we need to begin the quest. At times, we feel a sort of exuberance toward our experiences. Yet, there are times when we only want out. This world of lucidity tests our reason and logic. Nothing seems to be “real”. When we focus on that which seems to bring us fulfillment, the dream continues to be an overwhelming joy ride. When we focus on the “dark” aspects of the dream, we feel confused and we slowly lose our direction. Shortly after this horrific aspect of the dream world, we arrive at what I refer to as “The Fall”. This is the place where we feel as if we have no control over anything. The weightlessness does not scare us as we fall. It is the fear of the outcome. “When will I stop falling?” “How hard will the impact be?” and “Will this be the end of everything I know?” The ultimate question in the dream world is this: What do I need to do to get out of the fall? The answer is simple. You need to remember the thrill of the dream. You need to remember what it felt like when you had a sense of direction. Realize that “the fall” comes from our reason and logic. Being a part of the amazing moments are what the dream is really all about. Go to places you have never been, talk to people you have never met and remember that you are there to discover pieces of yourself you never knew existed.
